Using the Current Continuous Tense Marker O lo’o in Samoan

O lo’o is the “currently happening” tense marker.   English words ending in -ing are Samoan words with O lo’o tense markers.  Like all tense markers, it appears before a verb or main idea and modifies it’s tense.  For example:


Descriptive Structure 

O lo’o ou alu i le fale. –  I am going in the house.


Emphatic Structure

O lo’o alu a’u i le fale.-  I am  going in the house.


Noun Phrase 

O a’u o lo’o alu i le fale.  I am going in the house.
