SIUE University first Midwest University to teach Samoan

New Class: Samoan 101 at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville

Samoan 101 is now being offered through SIUE, taught by Talofa Talk founder William Fanene. This beginner-friendly course is designed for anyone with little to no experience. You will not only learn common sayings, but also how to build on those sayings to create your own sentences and communicate with confidence.

Location: SIUE Belleville Campus, 2300 W Main St, Belleville, IL (Old Main Hall)
Schedule: Tuesdays, June 9 – July 28, 2026
Time: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM (CDT)

This course is offered both in-person and virtually. If you miss a class, you will have access to the recordings, so you can stay on track.

In addition to Samoan 101 instruction, enrollment also includes access to the Tusi Pa’ia course along with guided instructional materials, including the UMA Workbook, Word Search activities, and the Tusi Pa’ia Workbook.
